What Happened in March 2023?

On the night of March 24, 2023, a powerful EF-4 tornado and heavy rains struck Rolling Fork. Winds reached over 170 mph, and the resulting floodwaters engulfed homes and roads. According to FEMA and local authorities:

Lives lost: At least 25

Mary, a 62-year-old schoolteacher, lived alone on the east side of Rolling Fork. As the water rose, she clung to a pillar on her porch until help arrived the next morning. “I thought it was the end. But I’m here, and I’m thankful,” she said with teary eyes.
